The Denver City Flag, officially adopted in 1926, stands as a radiant symbol of unity and pride for the City and County of Denver, Colorado. Designed by Margaret Overbeck, a North High student, this flag ingeniously captures the spirit of the Mile-High City with its vibrant colors and unique elements.

Design Elements and Symbolism:

• Zig-Zag Stripe: A distinctive white zig-zag stripe horizontally divides the flag, separating the red area below from the blue area above. This dynamic element adds a sense of movement and energy to the design.
• Red and Blue Fields: The red field below the zig-zag stripe represents the earth, while the blue field above symbolizes the sky. Together, they embody the city’s connection to both the natural and urban environments.
• Yellow Circle: Centered in the blue area, a bold yellow circle represents the sun, signifying the sunny climate and bright outlook of Denver.

Historical Significance:

• Design by Margaret Overbeck: Margaret Overbeck, a student at North High, crafted this iconic flag design, which was officially adopted in 1926.
